A lot of folks buy guns for various reasons, but seemingly, most intend to use the gun as a last resort, for a self defense tool. With this in mind, many store /park their gun in a fashion that isn’t compliant with law. The night stand or sock drawer is no longer the option in storing the gun. Storing the gun means it is clean and ready for long-term storage and will not be used for a lengthy period of time. Unable to be stolen.

Parking the gun is different than storing it. When you “park” a gun, you are taking a loaded and chambered fire arm and putting it in a secure place, until the need arises that you may have to put the gun into service at a seconds notice.

Parking comes in a coupla different ways. When you get home at the end of the day, you can get the gun out of the safe and put it in a location easily accessible, in the event of an emergency. So to say, the gun was parked for the duration, obviously not accessible to children or other prohibited persons.

Another way to look at Parking, before you go to work, put the readily accessible gun you had the night before, into the safe when leaving for work. When you get home from a hard days work, make it accessible again. “Rinse and repeat”, it’s not a pain in the butt, its a responsibility all law abiding individuals share.

Stay safe.
